Happy (lunar) New Year, the Amref-NBCC wishes you peace, prosperity and health in 2023.
We have come a long way with the HBCC II campaign. The most important news of this year is that the Ebola outbreak in Uganda has come to an end. We would like to take this opportunity to salute our colleagues and partners in Uganda who contributed to this welcome outcome. The hygiene behaviours reinforced during HBCC II played no small part in mitigating the Ebola outbreak. You can read more about Amref Health Uganda's achievement here: https://newsroom.amref.org/news/2023/01/how-amref-health-africa-worked-with-partners-to-support-ebola-fight-in-uganda/.
Amref Uganda Country Manager Dr. Patrick Kagurusi took the time to reflect on the achievements in a videomessage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FsUUASESFQ.
He celebrated the end of Ebola and yet emphasized the importance of continued practice of healthy hygiene behaviours. Covid-19 has still not passed making the four preventative measures still relevant.
The HBCC II partnership is winding down and will come to a close in March 2023. We have a few milestones we would like to reach before then. Firstly, we are co-organising our final partnership meeting with colleagues at Amref Health Uganda. The aim will be to share highlights and learnings from the regional partnership. We also hope to co-host a high-level virtual summit with key partners to close out the partnership in March/April.
We invite you to join us online for these events.
Please write to mission@brandsonamission.com, if you have an interest or idea to share with us. We will do our best to accommodate you.
