After touring the Coast and Mount Kenya regions, the Community Health Workers (CHW’s) Behaviour Change communication (BCC) training went west with sessions conducted in Kisii and Migori. With the two countries being major transit areas and sharing an international border respectively, these sessions were designed to address the potential danger in these communities and help mitigate any potential dangers.
Championed by Amref and NBCC with support from UKAID and Unilever the Hygiene and Behaviour Change Coalition under which the BCC lies seeks to enhance the capacities of 10 high risk counties to fight COVID-19. Over 800 CHW’s were trained bringing the total to over 2400 in 6 counties including Mombasa, Kwale, Meru and Embu.

To complement the sensitization process, murals and radio programmes will be aired in the local vernacular stations to propagate BCC/IPC information to communities.
